När familjen Campbell flyttar till norra Connecticut märker de snart att deras charmiga sekelskifteshus har en obehaglig historia inte nog med att det tidigare varit en begravningsbyrå där obegripliga saker inträffat, dessutom var den tidigare ägarens synske son Jonah ett demoniskt sändebud som kunde öppna portarna till den andra sidan för att släppa genom osaliga andeväsen.
